Acrylic*  For the sake of brevity, this term encompasses acrylic mediums of various types, various fillers, pigments, varnishes, and ready made acrylic paints.

Time is invested in experimentation with the use of tiny glass beads of varying sizes, pigments, different fillers, acrylic mediums, varnishes... This brings a subtle and refined touch to the paintings which mean they play with light and the perception of colour in a very rewarding manner.  Original paintings, when offered for sale,  are generally priced at between £80 and £500.

Acrylic*  For the sake of brevity, this term encompasses acrylic mediums of various types, various fillers, pigments, varnishes, and ready made acrylic paints.  You can be confident that the structural integrity of the work is sound. Only light fast pigments are used, and the paintings are sealed with various acrylic finishes if not presented under glass.  The surface will vary in finish, but this is part of the painting.

Ivon Hitchens:

"But the visual ‘sound’ is of the first and greatest importance. Without it the picture is useless…My pictures are painted to be ‘listened’ to…"

(the artist, quoted from ‘Notes on Painting’, ARK 18 (Journal of the RCA), 1956

Ivon Hitchens' painting is huge influence on the way my painting has developed.  It's helped me to look for the space in my work, with the intention of letting the painting breath.  It's also affirmed to me the importance of the time when paint is not actually being applied.  That waiting and reflecting time when painting demands as much consideration as anything else.  I work often in quite a piecemeal fashion, and this helps, not hinders me, in my contemplation.  And in terms of what I aim to achieve, it has helped me see clearly that I desire the poetic;  that a painting might resonate in space,  and that the "sound" it makes is enough for it to be meaningful.  The subject matter is secondary.

Brief word from the artist for 2016:

I hope you enjoy looking at these paintings.  My work has developed considerably over the last five years at quite a pace.   In order to flourish most fully in  my artistic vocation I do need people who will support me by investing into my artworking.  This may be by becoming a collector of my work, or by simply enjoying it and sharing it with others.
